The project aimed to integrate AI features into Ayogo's SaaS platform to enhance support for patients on their Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) journey. I led the research and design of three key AI functionalities: Next Best Action, Smart Message Compose, and Message Summary, all intended to help health coaches provide more empathetic care. The team prioritized responsible AI deployment, ensuring ethical usage of these features. Two out of the three features were successfully developed and entered early testing before Ayogo's product offerings merged with another company.
Ayogo's health coaches were managing approximately 10 patients each at various stages of CKD, from diagnosis to aftercare. They needed a tool to help form stronger personal connections with patients and provide tailored support. With advancements in AI technology, They saw an opportunity to integrate intelligent features into their existing SaaS platform.
The team prioritized incremental upgrades to the AI-powered features so the ethical and technical foundations of the solution were sound. The path ahead was straightforward:
The insight engine provided health coaches with comprehensive patient summaries and actionable recommendations, complete with reasoning and links to original data sources. This significantly reduced the time spent on data interpretation from multiple channels.
This AI feature accelerated communication by offering contextually relevant prompts such as "Praise," "Check-In," and "Fitness Tips," enabling coaches to create personalized messages tailored to individual patient needs. Our responsible AI foundations ensured the content was carefully reviewed by the coaches before being shared with the patients.
This feature distilled lengthy conversations into concise overviews, linking back to full transcripts for reference. This not only saved time but also ensured that critical patient information is easily accessible, enhancing the overall quality of care.
I was in charge of seamless developer hand-offs and walkthroughs for all mentioned features:
Two of the three AI features were successfully developed and deployed for early testing. However, Ayogo's product offerings merged with another medical company that led to transferring the rights for further development.
Leveraging AI in their platform equipped the coaches with deeper patient insights and streamline communication, significantly improving the quality and efficiency of chronic disease management.
